GROUP SESSIONS CURRENTLY OFFERED 2025

-Grief:
Grief group therapy structure is designed to help individuals navigate the painful process of loss in a supportive environment.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction:
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Groups are a therapeutic approach that incorporates mindfulness practices to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms, such as those experienced by people with PTSD. MBSR teaches individuals how to focus on the present moment, become more aware of their thoughts and bodily sensations, and respond to stress in healthier ways. This can be especially helpful for PTSD patients who often experience heightened anxiety, flashbacks, and emotional reactivity.

-CBT:
CBT groups for PTSD help participants identify and change negative thought patterns, engage in exposure exercises, practice relaxation techniques, and receive peer support. The group format encourages learning from others while benefiting from the structured guidance of a therapist. By focusing on cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and mindfulness, CBT groups provide individuals with practical tools for managing trauma-related symptoms and improving their overall emotional well-being.

-Military Group:
For many veterans, a significant part of their identity is tied to their military service. However, PTSD can lead to negative associations with their military experience, causing veterans to feel disconnected from the values, strengths, and sense of pride they once had. Reframing military identity helps veterans rediscover their sense of self-worth, focusing on the positive aspects of their service and their current capacity for growth and healing.

LEAD BY PACC’S Dr.Faye:
-The Ultimate Parenting Class
This class is a theory class that explains how we develop the gifts and issues that we carry within. It clarifies causes other than genes. It is essential for parents, because we can ensure that the most important stages of childhood are handled as well as possible, so we will have intelligent, ethical, and resilient children. It also helps us understand the behavior of our children and how to heal them. Finally, the parenting class facilitates self-awareness, so you understand how you developed your functional and dysfunctional coping skills (aka personality disorders) and what you must do to heal. It also helps us understand and assess others. This class is 40 years old. It is a prerequisite for everything I do in my other world, where I have a non-profit and am also a forensic evaluator, forensic therapist, and trauma therapist. It has historically been a prerequisite for the therapy I do, making the therapy go deeper and faster. This class is a prerequisite for the other two classes. There are two books that come with the class, as well as a 16-hour video. One, The Manual, is independent of the tapes, but it is 400 pages. The other, The Handbook, is a support for the tapes. I would sit with you while you watch the tapes of me 20 years ago, two hours each, followed by an hour’s discussion. So, if we started at 6 pm, we’d be done at nine.
The Ultimate Parenting Class course take two months. After the two months, you are invited to attend either or both of the other groups.
1. Zen and Therapy
Dr. Faye is a Zen Buddhist. Zen is the only religion that has no beliefs. It is said to be compatible with our inherited religion. Maybe. That has a lot to do with how you understand your own religion. Zen is a profound tool for healing and ethics. It facilitates enlightened choices, if not enlightenment, itself. Zen provides an opportunity to have an objective view of life and the world around us, but especially our very own lives. The textbook for this class is Zen Flesh, Zen Bones by Paul Reps. While Zen masters historically and classically teach with riddles that sometimes take years to decode, Dr. Faye will read a story, usually one page, and then we will discuss it until you understand it. This is perhaps Speed Zen.
2. Conflict Resolution and Relationship Skills
Dr. Faye is of the opinion that a person is not healed until they have healthy interaction skills. Dr. Faye have seen too many people finish therapy and re-injure themselves by falling back into old and unhealthy ways of interacting, thereby attracting difficulties. To live a healthy life, we truly need to know these skills. In this class, Dr. Faye will review Chapter 8 of the Ultimate Parenting Class. You will practice skills and get caring feedback for how you did, so you can master the skills faster. In some cases, with some insurance, you can bring someone with whom you can practice these skills. Nevertheless, you can practice with each other.
